Oscar Isaac (born Oscar Isaac Hernández; January 5, 1980) is an American actor.

Isaac was born in Guatemala to a Guatemalan mother, Maria Estrada Nicolle, and a Cuban pulmonologist father, Oscar Gonzalo Hernandez.[2] He was raised in Miami, Florida.[3][4] While in Miami, he played lead guitar and sang vocals for his band "The Blinking Underdogs". He has described his evangelical upbringing as "very Christian".[5][6]
Isaac graduated from the Juilliard School in 2005.
Isaac's first major film role was as Joseph opposite Keisha Castle-Hughes in the film The Nativity Story. He also had a small role in All About the Benjamins and the Che Guevara biopic Guerrilla.
In addition to movie appearances, he made an appearance in the television series Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Additionally, he appeared as Romeo in the Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park performance of Romeo and Juliet and in the Public Theater's "Shakespeare in the Park" revival of Two Gentlemen of Verona.[7]
Isaac also played Prince John, later crowned King John of England, in the 2010 film Robin Hood; the character is based upon John of England. Isaac will star in W.E., the second film directed by Madonna, in July 2010. The film was shot on location in London, France and the United States.
